We received a very friendly email today from Marci Tyldesley over at Regan Communications. She forwarded along a press release for a local pet photographer, Stacey Hedman. It’s a great read and we’re glad to see there are some local pet photographers around! Be sure to follow Stacey, Marci, and BostonPetLink on Twitter.
Local Photographer Focuses on Pets
Cape Cod woman turns slow economy into a boon for rescue animals33-year old Stacey Hedman was born and raised as the eighth generation of her family to live on Cape Cod. She was surrounded by pets and photography throughout childhood and finally melded the two passions in 2008 to create Cold Nose Photo.
“Pet photography is something most people haven’t thought of before, but dogs and cats –even horses – quickly become true members of the family,” says Hedman. “It’s a dream come true that I get to roll around and spend time with so many pet personalities, seeing what unique images we can come up with.”
When the economy took a toll on the Boston marketing agency she commutes to by day, Hedman was forced to take one unpaid furlough day each month. Rather than focus on the negative, Hedman immediately contacted the Animal Rescue League of Boston in Brewster, MA. She now spends every other Friday afternoon at the shelter, providing belly rubs, ball tosses and professional-quality photography for the animals in need.“We post Stacey’s photos directly to Petfinder.com. When so many pets are looking for new homes, it’s wonderful to have such high-quality images to help them stand out,” says Sandra Luppi, Manager of the Animal Rescue League’s Brewster branch.
Shelter dogs and client dogs alike can be a part of Hedman’s new photography project, Dogs of Cape Cod (dogsofcapecod.com). The project is dedicated to capturing the unique lifestyle of dogs and their owners on Cape Cod and the Islands.
Hedman’s work is currently on display at Falmouth Animal Hospital and For the Love of the Breed in Brewster. If you are interested in a session or are actively working with rescue animals, visit ColdNosePhoto.com for more information.
